New Rope Guidelines

Chris lives for being on the rock (or ice!). He’s been a keen climber and mountaineer for over 30 years and has climbed in Europe, North America, South America and Asia as well as here in the UK.

This love of the outdoors has led to a 25+ year involvement in mountain rescue, as a member of Cockermouth MRT. During his time with Cockermouth MRT he’s held positions of Vehicle Quartermaster, Deputy Team Leader and Training Officer.

Being slightly on the control freak side of normal, Chris noticed the MREW Rope Rescue Guidelines were becoming out of date and decided to do something about it. As a proponent of a safe, effective and efficient approach to rope rescue, he recognises the huge influence human factors have, and it is hoped the new guidelines reflect this.
